{"id":2662,"date":"2015-02-14T22:10:06","date_gmt":"2015-02-14T12:10:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.markwebb.name\/?p=2662"},"modified":"2015-04-05T18:12:04","modified_gmt":"2015-04-05T08:12:04","slug":"ditmars-preliminary-ballot-galactic-chat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.markwebb.name\/?p=2662","title":{"rendered":"Ditmars preliminary ballot &#8211; Galactic Chat!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"top\" \/>\n<p id=\"top\" \/>The preliminary ballot for the Ditmars (Australian SF awards &#8211; a voted award not jury picked) has come out and I&#8217;m very pleased to say that <em>Galactic Chat<\/em> has been nominated for the\u00a0<strong><em>Best Fan Publication in Any Medium\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>category.<\/p>\n<p>For new readers of the blog, I am a minor contributor to the <a title=\"Galactic Chat website\" href=\"http:\/\/galactichat.podbean.com\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Galactic Chat<\/em> podcast<\/a>, which aims to interview the people that make up the Australian speculative fiction scene. The podcast is led by Sean Wright (who is also nominated for a bunch of other stuff around his fan writing), and also includes contributions from\u00a0Helen Stubbs, David McDonald, Alexandra Pierce and Sarah Parker.<\/p>\n<p>In 2014 I conducted two interviews. The first was with <a title=\"Galactic Chat \u2013 Ion Newcombe interview\" href=\"https:\/\/www.markwebb.name\/?p=2540\" target=\"_blank\">Ion Newcombe<\/a>, the publisher of <em>AntipodeanSF<\/em> (which recently published its 200th issue) and the second was with agent extraordinaire <a title=\"Galactic Chat interview \u2013 Alex Adsett\" href=\"https:\/\/www.markwebb.name\/?p=2550\" target=\"_blank\">Alex Adsett<\/a>. I am very proud of both interviews &#8211; it was great to speak with such fascinating people\u00a0and I&#8217;d like to take the chance once again to thank them both for subjecting themselves to my incessant questioning!<\/p>\n<p>The full Ditmar ballot can be found <a title=\"2015 Ditmar ballot\" href=\"http:\/\/wiki.sf.org.au\/2015_Ditmar_preliminary_ballot\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>, and I&#8217;ve reproduced the list below (accurate as at 14\/2\/2014) with links to the embarrassingly few nominated books that I&#8217;ve reviewed on this site.
